I bought the new Nikon D3 camera about a month or so ago and it is the finest camera I have ever owned.  There are tons of resources online about the techs and specs of the camera so I won't even go into that.  A 50mm lens being a 50mm lens again (full frame sensor) and being able to shoot at ISO 6400 without apologies is all I'm gonna say about that.  The D3 has gotten me excited about personal photography again.  I take it with me everywhere.  It is going to change the way I shoot. Here are a few shots from my first outing with my sons and the D3.    More after the jump...  My 9 year old Caleb and I. (Shot by Meg) My 2.5 year old Joshua. And this is just SICK! ISO 6400. Shot in light that my older cameras would have laughed at and walked away from. The D3 is just an unbelievable camera in low light. I nearly switched to Canon a year ago for the 5d. I wanted the full frame sensor and the high ISO capabilities. I'm. So. Glad. I. Waited. Cheers, Zack

  1. Bokeh, color = amazing.

  2. I have been trying to love the D3, and to a lesser extent the D300; but I simply don’t like the way it resolves highlights. They seem blown and/or not graduated very well. I guess its well known that Nikon sacrificed that so that these cameras could see in the dark.

maybe I’m just too used to Fuji color and DR. The S5 would have handled these issues much differently but admittedly not at ISO 6400!

Maybe the “x” will be my dream machine…..

  3. Ahhh, the D3, my dream camera. Simply amazing!

  4. AWWW!!!!! I love them all!!! :) great job.

  5. I’m floored by the D3 as well. The D3 makes short work of things that were enormous work previously with the D2x. You site is beautiful, and filled with great info. Thanks for posting.

  6. Awesome D3 shots… on my to- own list.

  7. I love it. Your work is great.
