Fall 2016 may be almost one year away, but designers are already making some predictions for what will be on fleek in the Fall/Winter season. We’re talking lots of black and white, reefer jackets, velvet dresses, military style – the whole shebang.
Plus, there’s something special about fall, with its lovely blanket scarves, cozy sweaters, and warm leggings. We can’t resist browsing through outfit photos for inspired looks that make us think of pumpkin spice lattes and colorful leaves. So we’ve put together a generous collection of looks to help you assess your current wardrobe and get a jumpstart on buying all the key pieces necessary to create your very own fall wardrobe. Shall we begin?
A chic, casual ensemble that looks effortless and cool at the same time. Ripped jeans will be all the rage in 2016 as well, so you have a free pass at ordering a few pairs online. Pair them with a simple T-shirt and some heels and you’ve got yourself a perfect outfit for running errands or meeting friends. The plaid shirt will come in handy if gets windy. Bonus points for the fact that it’s black and white – as we’ve said, a major trend in 2016.
Another casual ensemble that makes great use of ripped jeans and a plain T-shirt. The cardigan is a great choice for the evening, and the sneakers are the perfect pick for when you have a lot of walking around on the agenda. As for the accessories, the scarf gives out an undeniable fall vibe, and the bag adds a much-needed splash of color. It doesn’t get easier than this.
We’re totally into this cute asymmetrical cardigan, which gives the entire look a bit of an edge. The jeans are ripped in the right places, and the boots basically scream fall, so she’s got to go. This outfit would be a great choice for an afternoon stroll with the boyfriend, as we guarantee that the deep V shirt will definitely grab his attention.
A very similar ensemble to the one pictured above, so we’re going to add this cardigan to our wish list as well. As you can see, you can easily put together a flawless fall outfit with only a few basics from your closet. In this case, the accessories add a touch of glam to the look – especially the adorable necklace and the oversized watch.
First off, that gold necklace is to die for, and it goes amazingly well with the polka dot shirt. We’re big fans of polka dots. As a matter of fact, we’re strong believers that every woman out there should have at least a polka dot dress and a polka dot shirt in their wardrobe, for when you need a touch of whimsy in your life. Plus, that blazer is perfection.
With jeans, this would have been a perfectly adequate fall outfit. Throw in those glam pants though, and you’ve got yourself a fierce and edgy ensemble. What’s more striking about it is the fact that you could wear it literally everywhere – work, a date, Sunday morning at the farmer’s market. It’s very versatile, which makes it the perfect choice for one of those busy days when you want to look stylish without putting too much effort into the outfit.
If you’re looking for something cozy, you can’t go wrong with an oversized sweater. They’re pretty much the comfort clothes we women secretly wish to wear all the time, but usually settle for rocking them on lazy weekend days. Those boots look hella comfy too. All in all, if you’re looking for a simple and casual ensemble, there’s no better choice out there.
Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day was obviously wrong. We love the entire look, especially the shoes and the blouse. But can we take a minute to talk about the dog? That collar is so trendy and badass, and his pointy ears are mesmerizing. We’re swooning over here, people ~gasp~.
Blanket scarves will stay in style next year as well, so you will be able to get your money’s worth if you just purchased one. On the same note, leather jackets never fall out of style, and buns will remain everyone’s go-to hairstyle on a bad hair day. Maybe you don’t need to shop for new clothes after all?
The scarf is lovely. The blouse is cute as a button. And the bag goes great with the shoes and the sunnies. The conclusion? Casual fall looks are insanely easy to put together, case and point. And yet, that doesn’t make them look any less stylish. This is why we love fall so much. It doesn’t give us a hard time, wardrobe-wise.
Can we take a second to talk about those shoes, please? We all know that loafers are extra-comfy, so they’re perfect for casual looks. But when they come in a funky design, they instantly give the whole look an extra-glam vibe. The pants are great as well, and we can’t help but praise that elegant clutch. Black and white for the win, with a touch of blue for some whimsy.
Oh, precious knee-length socks, we meet again. They have been in style for years now, so there’s no wonder they will make some special appearances next fall as well. They look awesome peeking out of boots, so we’re not ones to complain. Also, this outfit is a testament to all people out there who claim that summer dresses can’t be worn in colder months. Yes, they can, as long as you pair them with tights and a warm cardigan. Bonus points for the oversized necklace.
We’re crazy for blazers. Mainly because a well-tailored one makes you look like a total #girlboss with ease, but also because they’re the perfect thing to throw on when a cardigan just doesn’t work. Wear it over dresses for a chic look or use them to liven up a casual, seemingly boring outfit. Works like a charm.
We can’t see her face, but we bet she’s smiling. She has a good reason too – that bag is perfect. It can easily fit a sturdy day planner and all the other knick-knacks us women carry around all day. Oh, and the blouse is gorgeous as well. Stripes will always be in style, just as leather will. These are basically the rules of the fashion universe.
If you’re lucky enough to live by the beach, good for you. If you’re lucky enough to live by the beach and rock a similar outfit, we’re plain jealous. That blue is amazing, and the cut of the dress makes it a very good choice for a lazy fall day when you’re just strolling around, looking for a cozy coffee place to yet your PSL fix. So basically any fall day for that matter.
Off-the-shoulder blouses = yaaaass! Paired with faux-leather leggings = double yaasss. To be honest, we’re thinking about making this ensemble our new fall uniform. It looks great and it’s hella cozy. Throw in a funky beanie and you’re golden. And does the print read something about zombies? Because if that’s the case, we can barely contain our excitement.
Oh, beloved blanket scarf, we meet again. We remember all the great times we had together just a few days ago. Going to the bank. Hailing a cab. Meeting friends for a drink in a crowded pub. You were there for us, and you’ll be there next year for sure. We’ll never let go, scarf. We’ll never let go.
Awesome boots? Check. Comfy yoga pants? Check. A gorgeous cardigan in the uber-trendy black/white combination? Check. This girl somehow managed to put together the most basic, but oh so perfect fall outfit. Because let’s face it, we’re all grateful for the fact that we can now wear yoga pants outside the house, since not long ago this habit was wildly frowned upon, for reasons we can’t quite understand. Yoga pants are the best, and we’ll hang on to them forever.
If you’re looking for a more business-like outfit, there you go. Heels, great-looking pants, a simple tank, and a flattering blazer. Remember what we said about blazers just a moment ago? I think we’ve made out point. Oversized necklaces will still be in wild demand in 2016, and animal print bags will continue to dazzle us from the catwalk. In other words, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
We’re big advocates for layering during cold months, meaning that you should in no way keep your summer dresses in storage. There’s always a cute combo to try out; case and point. A gorgeous dress paired with tights and a warm coat will keep you cozy and stylish during next fall. Add an oversized scarf and some sturdy boots into the mix and you’ve got yourself an eye-catching outfit.
For those warm days at the beginning of every fall season, you can always keep things simple with a pair of ripped jeans and a cute top. Bright colors are always welcomed, and some on fleek accessories will give the look a bit of an edge. We’re swooning over those gladiator sandals.
Casual can easily go hand in hand with chic. Plus, this outfit is insanely easy to put together. Jeans, sneakers, a white top and an army jacket – all essential everybody already has in the closet. A funky looking bag and some oversized sunnies help you stand out from the crowd, while the gold accessories add a touch of glam to the outfit.
We’re obsessed with navy shirts for every season, so we’re endorsing them for fall as well. Blue will be all the rage next season, so you’ve better stock up on some garments and accessories that remind you of your summer beach vacation. That blazer is uber-cool, which proves once more that a girl can never have too many of those hanging in her closet.
That printed skirt is to die for. Bonus – it’s flattering on most body shapes, so it’s definitely worth the investment. The red blazer is a keeper, and the necklace elevates the outfit from office-chic to date-worthy. We can’t see the shoes, but we’re betting she went with a cute pair of pumps. A great look for warm fall days.
Fall means hats, so don’t be afraid to experiment with them. The blanket scarf makes another special appearance, as do the ripped jeans. If you don’t find a pair you like, you can easily make them yourself. All you need is an old pair of jeans, some sandpaper or a paint-removing block, steel wool, and a pumice stone. You can find a detailed tutorial here.
Simple, classy, effective. We’re especially digging the shoes and the oversized scarf. She looks like a busy gal ready to take on the world, don’t you agree? This look is perfect for the office, for a job interview, or for a fun get-together with the girls. If you’re not a fan of heels, platforms would work great with the outfit.
When falls starts to blend with winter, being warm will probably be on top of your list of priorities. Luckily, oversized coats will be in style next year – pair them with a cute pair of faux-leather legging and some comfy boots and you’re ready to face the cold. Don’t forget the accessories – a fancy over the shoulder bag, a beanie to keep your head from freezing, and some fashionable gloves to keep your hands toasty.
The quickest way to win over Instagram with your fall look? Pair a big coat with some delicate pumps. This combo seems to be getting a lot of likes these days, and we’re sure the trend will survive the New Year as well. Moreover, we can’t help but praise those pants. They look as comfy as pants get. The lack of accessories only allows them to stand out even more.
When you’re too lazy to come up with a sophisticated look, rely on basics. You can put together and effortless and chic outfit using a white T-shirt, loafers, jeans, and a blazer. When it comes to fall, it doesn’t get easier than this. Bonus tip: messy hair will be in great demand in the fall of 2016. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Yay for army pants, yay for lace, yay for bright colors and unexpected combinations. If you would have asked us last year how we felt about mixing army prints with lace, we would have laughed in your face. Now, we’re totally swooning over this look, and for good reason. In case you needed some additional proof that some things can’t be pulled off, there you go.
We want to write a song about this oversized sweater. Or maybe a poem. Or perhaps an entire novel praising its existence. The oversized sweater will be a staple of fall 2016, so comb your closets for buried treasures. You don’t even need a jacket, the trusted sweater will keep you warm all through the day.
A classic back-to-school look that goes great as an office fall uniform. Skirt + shirt + sweater = love. Invest in a few of each and you’ll never run out of possible combos to try out. Your co-workers will be impressed. Too bad they don’t make yearbooks for work, or you would definitely be voted ‘Most chic’.
Add a touch of whimsy to your look via a cute sweater or knee socks. Knee socks are the best, guys. As a side note, plated shirts will rule in 2016 as well, while statement necklaces are still worth investing in. As for boots – these classic models will always be in style. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
“Hello, there! I’m heading to a casual business lunch, but I thought I could stop for a minute to take a cute #ootd picture. This ensemble is very comfy, guys, and the red coat gives me an energy boost every time I pass a mirror. You should buy one too and you’ll be surprised with how much more often you’ll have a smile on your face.”
We need this maxi skirt in our lives. There’s no doubt about it. If you want to feel like a princess all the time, you need one too. Pair it with a leather jacket and an oversized scarf and you’ll get a lot of compliments. Because this skirt deserves all the attention it will get. It’s flawless. There are no more words…
You might have rocked a denim overall back in the ’90, but they’ve made a successful comeback in recent years, and they will continue to be around for next fall. They’re extremely versatile, so you can pair them with heels for a fancier outing or sneakers for a day when all you have planned is to run errands. The red coat adds an additional touch of glam to the look.
Every woman out there should have at least one white shirt in their wardrobe. If we would start a style school, this is the first thing we would tell our students. It’s a piece well-worth the investment, as it literally goes with everything. In this case, a pair or red pants and a trendy grey coat. If the girl would have worn a basic T-shirt, the look would have been less impressive. With the white buttoned-down though, the outfit looks more polished and elegant. See what we’re talking about?
While an all-black ensemble might feel boring, add one piece in a bright color in the mix and you’ve got yourself a more interesting and eye-catching look. High-waist skirts will continue their dominance well into 2016, and oversized bags will stay forever practical in spite of what fleeting trends might suggest. The classics never go out of style, remember that.
Beanies, beanies everywhere! The brighter, the better. Classic trench coats are great investments for the fall season, as long as they’re well-tailored and made from quality materials. As for trench colors, think blue, beige, and black for 2016.
A simple, and yet eye-grabbing look consisting of a basic sweater, flattering denim skirt, platforms, and black clutch. If you were having any doubts left about how easy it is to put together a great fall look, we just proved the contrary. You’re welcome.
Asymmetrical skirts are uber-cool because they add a bit of texture to your look, especially paired with a cute shirt and aviator sunnies. The coat is also to die for, and we’re just about ready to write an ode to those shoes. All in all, a pretty interesting and comfy outfit, don’t you think?
The easiest way to add a bit of edge to a basic pattern dress? Faux fur. You’ll make a statement that will be hard to ignore. We’re not particularly invested in the shoes, since a pair of boots would have worked better, but we can’t help but applaud the entire ensemble. It basically screams fall.
Skinny jeans, a denim jacket, and stripes for the win. The stylish cutch more than completes the outfit, adding a touch of glam to an otherwise pretty casual look. Kudos.
This is a more daring look, for when you feel like you really need to stand out from the crowd. A short, animal print skirt might not be the best choice for the office, but it goes great at a cocktail party after-hours or a date. Your suitor won’t be able to take his eyes of your legs, we more than guarantee it.
Black has been back for a while now, and it’s going nowhere. This fierce chick adds a pop of color to the look thanks to those adorable shoes, so we couldn’t help but fall in love with the ensemble. Because black is awesome, but bright colors help it sparkle even more.
Loving the skirt, as well as the Moschino belt that accompanies it so well. Did you notice that the gloves go great with the sunglasses? And what about the clutch? Guys, it’s see-through. We’re in awe.
Yay to cozy sweaters with daring prints and oversized coats! Yay to comfy leggings and cute boots! And yay to warm mufflers with heart prints. This look is basically perfect. Take note.
For those lazy days when your only wish is to get a delicious cup of hot cocoa. You can’t go wrong with a white shirt, classic jeans, and interesting pumps. It’s a basic, and yet stylish combination that’s insanely easy to put together. Grab a coat and you’re good to go.
Pairing a suit with sneakers would be daring if we were seven years ago. No, it’s as common as saying ‘on fleek’ when referring to someone’s eyebrow game. We’re willing to bet it’s going to be a combo that will stay in style until next fall.
Layers galore! Sweater, shirt, coat, west – the more the merrier. That way you’re sure you’ll be dresses accordingly despite the common temperature fluctuations one has to endure during fall season. Trust us – you’ll save yourself a lot of hassle if you go this route.
When it comes to coats, you need to dig a little to find a winner. She definitely has. It’s tailored to perfection. Plus, a good coat is an investment, so you want to make sure you’re patient enough to find just the right one. It will significantly elevate your fall outfit game.
Another cozy, but stylish combo. We’re especially in love with the shade of that coat. Green makes everything better.
See why we’re insisting on layers? Because sometimes is so sunny that you can afford to lose one of them, and you want to look trendy when you do. Basically what she had in mind, right?
Her hat game is on point, and that muffler is gorgeous. She’s probably wearing heels, which would make this look extremely chic and fall-appropriate.
This look basically includes all the precious fall garments we’ve come to know and love – tights, boots, hat, oversized scarf. Add a funky dress into the mix and you’re golden.
The shirt-sweater combo makes a final appearance, and we can’t help but smile and approve.
