I had the privilege of being interviewed by Bill & Ed over at LightSource for their pod cast. I really hope to meet these guys in person one day. I love what they do and what they give to our industry through the LightSource pod cast. If you aren't familiar with them you really need to go dig through the archives. They have some amazing photographers in the archive to listen to.
You can find the interview here.
For those of you just coming around to my blog, I'll be posting photos this week of the studio build out (as seen above) that I talked about on the podcast. I will also be talking about my philosophy of keeping a studio vs. working from home. And being this is my first REAL build out of a studio, I will be documenting the process that goes into it and how I'm making the space to fit my exact needs. I hope it will give you ideas about studio space as your business grows to the point of needing one. I'm also hoping I'll hear from you folks who have a studio who have ideas and tips that I haven't thought of yet.
Cheers,
Zack
Found your blog from the LightSource podcast. I really enjoyed it. Keep up the awesome work!!!
I heard the interview last night – good stuff!
Just listened to the interview. Good stuff.
I’ve been following the Lightsource podcast for a long time and was stoked when I saw your name pop up on the title for this one. (Damn…can’t believe I just used the word stoked….)
Keep up the great work and best wishes as you get the new studio ramped up.
Great interview on Lightsource. We’ve been hosting art shows at our studio for about a year and it’s been really great for us. Throw up a photo booth on your cyc wall and I guarantee you’ll get a million people getting ridiculously excited about taking pictures of themselves.
Zack,
Thanks for all you do. Good luck with the build out and I will check out the podcast this evening.

Sweet! This is a great blog, thanks for all the insight and info. Much love for the photo sharing geekness!
Any info on the actual construction part (like, how your doing it) of the cyc wall would be very cool.
Thanks again

Really looking forward to hearing about studio space. My girlfriend and I have a small loft in downtown Portland that we work and live out of it. It’s been a challenge. We’re trying to figure out how to afford a studio and what our best options are.
Awesome inerview, great insight into what you are going to achieve. Please come to the UK with the workshop.
Best regards,
Mart.
And now you’re on the F-Stop Beyond podcast… It’s a full on Zack media blitz the week!
Awesome…didn’t know you were doing LightSource! After I took your workshop 3 years ago, LightSource was like my weekly go to source for what’s happening in the world of photography and lighting. I think its a great show. I’m gonna check out your interview now.
Hi Zack, I’m pretty much at the stage that you are with building a studio and everything. I’m gonna stay posted to you blog and hope to learn something new about spacing it!
Nice meeting you, Andi.
Hi Zack,
Just had delivery of the One Light Workshop DVD … AWESOME!!!!!
Good luck with the Studio build … exciting times ahead huh

Best wishes to you and yours,

Love hearing about the new studio. We’re in the process of designing one from the ground up right now and trying to design to fit my needs for now ad the future. Will keep tuned in. And more info on your cyc wall construction would be great.
Zack,
I had to join OpenSource just to keep up with your blog. Im following your footsteps in building out a studio and ive already learned something from your pics- I was considering 16″ spacing for the ribs and it looks like you are spacing yours a few feet apart!?
Anyway, good luck, we’ll be watching!
