  9. Gorgeous – great light, great moment

  10. Thats a great shot.
The second light up in the left corner or is that a street lamp? Curious where you threw your 2nd light here. :)

  11. wow !!!!!
What a shot buddy !!! simple, powerful, beautiful !!!

  12. That’s an awesome shot. Full of character and detail and very memorable. Congrats on getting through the first few months with the baby. Tough going but worth it. Cheers, Martin

  17. Zack,

I’m in total agreement with Phil here in that if you made it up to Baltimore sometime that would be quite awesome.

    P.S. – HINT HINT :)

  18. Heya Zack,

Love the shot & the mood it has..but I think the cars in the background…I would loose them…imho!

  19. Dang, that is a sweet image. I love the quality of light and his skin tone. This is an overall pimpin’ shot. Thanks. Oh, and will you ever be coming to Chicago? Peace.

  20. Awesome shot!! I have to agree with Charles though, the car on the left is a bit distracting. Still awesome though!!

  21. @Nev – The 2nd light is that light up in the top corner. A flash with a Honl Photo 1/8 grid.

@Charles – I know! I was complaining about that as I shot it but I couldn’t get them towed away fast enough. :)

    Cheers,
    Zack

  22. Trying out some ideas for next year’s TwoLight Workshop? Sweet!

  23. I think the top corner light really adds to the composition,as does the building on the right which anchors the vertical nature of the image.

  24. Nice shot Zack. Im bitter I didnt make the LA workshop after we all got to hang out with you at the meet-N-greet. Next time!

  25. nice. can’t wait to see more.

+1 for coming to baltimore (though i live in DC…but i’ll take what i can get).

  29. Nice, simple yet very insirational.

  30. Hope you enjoyed Austin and were able to get out and enjoy some of the local flavor and great live music!

  31. Oh my gosh, Zack. When I left the studio at 2:30am last night/morning after an intense workshop from you, I tiredly went up to my hotel room. As said my prayers, and want to be honest, I thanked God for allowing me to meet and learn from you. You have changed my every thought of a single light. I am getting ready to download my images and will post… my motorcycle shot in color :)
You are the best! Stay tuned for the vacuum cleaner shots to come :)

  32. I love Austin! Have a place out there. I agree with Zac above….Austin is to be enjoyed and there is so much to experience there. Hope you were able to get out and enjoy it. Great shot!

  33. @Gina – I can’t wait to see them!

    Cheers,
    Zack

  34. beautiful, Zack!
hope to see you in NYC!

  35. I love high contrast black and white photos! The angle of the pose works perfectly with the angle of the bike. Awesome shot!!!

  36. wow…can’t wait to see more!

  37. It was great learning from you Zack, and I’m glad you got a chance to take advantage of my motorcycle. I cant wait until next time!

  38. It was great learning from you Zack, and I’m glad you got a chance to take advantage of my motorcycle. I cant wait until next time!

  39. wondeful, veru great job

  40. Love it! Can’t wait to see you in Denver some day :)

  41. Hi Zack,

How do you sync your flash in night shots where your shutter speed is slow due to ambient exposure? Is it rear or front sync?
I could not find a way to rear-sync my camera and off camera flash in manual mode triggered via PW’s..

  42. I have officially gone from flash stupid to flash informed. I have so been enlightened! I went to a concert on Friday night, and was a total nerd half the time thinking “how would I light this situation?” I’m a changed woman!

  43. I am disgusted that you would take advantage of a motorcycle. What have you become

  44. Man oh man… love this shot! After drooling over it for a few minutes I found myself wondering what it would look like with the headlight turned on (on the motorcycle)

P.S. I’ve got Daniel Johnston’s “speedy motorcycle” song stuck in my head now, ha!

  45. Hi Zack,

The light on the top left corner, was that a flash light or street light?

    Many thanks

  46. Awesome capture! I love it! Did you think about giving courses in Canada one day :D ?

  47. Love the lighting. also like the motorbike.

    Well done indeed!

    Cheers.

  48. Zack,
Thanks for rocking Austin and the studio. We hope you will come back soon. We had a BLAST.

  49. Zack, It was great working with you and all who attended the workshop, I had a great time being your Subject,
I still cant believe its me in the photos..
