“What’s up baby? I’m just about to get off work how ’bout I buy you a drink?”
It is with some great sadness that I have to go check out of my hotel room here in Dubai and head home. I’m not at all sad about heading home though. I miss my baby making baby and the boys so very much. All the activity here has kept my mind busy but now that things are getting quiet around here the void of Meghan and the boys is engulfing me. Time to get on a plane and fly home!
If I’m not sleeping for 15 hours on the flight home I will be editing the group shot I did of the GPP staff. I was the new guy this year so the job of making that shot fell on my shoulders. All I can say is… I’m glad I don’t have to do it next year! When you have Joe McNally in the front row along with 30 or 40 other people there is ZERO pressure on you as a photographer. Zero. Yeah. Whatever.
Lastly… Have you seen the movie Airplane! ? This quote is for you…”Johnny… Have you ever been on an Iranian shipping boat?”

That’s photographer Drew Gurian and… well… we never got past the language barrier to exchange names. He met these guys the day before and asked Erik and I to come along the next day to have tea and shoot pictures. It has been an amazing adventure!
Cheers,
Zack
Love that photo of Drew, looking forward to seeing some more photos from your trip.
You call that pressure? *laugh* I can’t even imagine what that must have been like.
I might have missed it, but what brought you all to Dubai? The mass of photo talent there was a bit amazing so I’m curious.
Looking forward to seeing more shots. The ones you’ve posted so far have been great.
@CC – We were here for Gulf Photo Plus. http://www.GulfPhotoPlus.com
It was six intense days of workshops, talks, and panels. Amazing time to be had.
Cheers,
Zack
Weren’t you afraid of that bird? It could try to avenge the fact that you “glued” part of it’s fellow your arm
Great smile and atmosphere on the second photo!
Looks like you had a great time there.
@Ilan – I thought that Falcon was going to rip my arm off at any moment!
Cheers,
Zack
can’t wait to hear more about your trip!!!!!
safe travels home!
love both shots you posted here!!!
Nice ink Zack. What’s the whole piece look like? Who was the artist? I’ve got a large collection going, so I’m very interested. Sounds like Dubai was a great time. I have to get out there one of these days.

Pressure? What…? You mean you couldn’t shoot that group shot with a single SB900 & a 60″ umbrella?! Haha

Looking forward to seeing some more shots from Dubai.
@Joe Reed – Zack did shoot the whole group with only 1 small speedlight – you’ll just have to wait for his post on how it did it. I guarantee you’ll be blown away.
Safe trip home Zack and it was an honour to meet you.

I guess you should have had some kinda mind-blowing experience while you’re in Dubai.:;) Arabic countries are almost the same but quite different than the Europe and USA… I hope you enjoyed your staying there and wondering if you faced the real life on the street, which should be full of motion.:) By the way when I went to Tunusia, I saw a bunch of people makin dance with Falcon..I guess that’s traditional?
take care
Interesting Article on Dubai! Sounds like Old Skool Las Vegas!
