Thank you so much for this video. For speaking from your heart and not being afraid to reveal the hopelessness that all artists must go through. I'm just starting out and your words resonated with the core of what I'm going through. Thank you.

you spoke everything in my mind and on my heart. is it the curse of the artist to suffer for his/her art?
perhaps, perhaps not but, it is what it is and in the immortal words of Popeye, 'I yam what I yam...'

Zack, this was really touching. I didn't know of you or your site until a friend of mine posted this video on facebook. But it doesn't matter, because I can really relate to what you're saying. It's tough to stare at you own photos for the billionth time and not see anything but pure crap when you were so happy with the same photos the first time you saw them on the screen or in the darkroom. Whenever that feeling comes it's hard to find a reason for doing anything, especially if you are going through something in a different part of your life. Such as with your father. It all becomes about perseverence and belief in a better and brighter tomorrow. Because everyone will at some point be confronted with a problem that they can't fix, at least not immediatly. And the strength is not always there to work out problems that take time to resolve. This might sound a little melodramatic, but I guess all you can hope for is to come out still standing.

So thank you very much for making me realise that I'm not the only one doing this to myself. It helps a great deal. I hope your creative soul survives the coming winter. Enjoy the rest of the summer!

wow, I've wanted to do something like this in blog form for a long time, based on the music industry, I don't think I need to now, you really put this together well, it transcends in alot of ways, to any type of artist.

Zack, that was a very profound and intelligent piece. It went beyond photography; it was rather about life as such.

Great stuff and I loved Meghan's music. Will try to find out whether I can buy a CD with the music of the soundtrack.
